Our Dark roast is our lightest roast, perfect for folks who like medium roast or lighter dark roasts and other well-balanced coffees.
Pleasant, spiced, and satisfying—this roast balances classic dark roast flavors with a touch of spiciness. Notes of dark chocolate, toasted nuts, and warm baking spices come together in a cup that’s medium-bodied and easy to drink. A clean finish makes it a favorite for daily brewing.
We start with high quality Brazilian coffee beans that provide a strong caramel backbone and then balance them with two other beans. The first is a high quality rich and earthy bean from Indonesia (Sumatra). The second is what makes this roast special. We found an amazing Rwandan bean that adds an incredible spice note to this roast...and it works wonderfully to balance the earthiness from the Sumatran bean. The result is a perfectly balanced roast on the light end of dark.
This is the coffee you make when you have mixed company and you want an all-around crowd-pleaser. We've even converted some medium roast drinkers to this roast exclusively.
ALSO: This is the roast we use for our own cold brew. The added complexity and balance of the Rwandan bean makes the resulting cold brew interesting and complex too. If you make your cold brew with minimal filtering and leave some of the natural oils from the bean, you're left with a fantastic cold brew that if you're anything like us will have a hard time drinking in moderation.
